The Reno Spaghetti Bowl Project
Planning and Environmental Study
Studied I-80 and I-580/US 395 freeway corridors in the Reno and Sparks metropolitan area (2017 to 2019)
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
Established the Purpose and Need (P&N) and studied multiple alternatives (2019)
- Community Outreach Meetings
- Preferred Alternative selected as part of the July 2019 Record of Decision (ROD)
- Phasing, the project is a multi-decade overhaul broken into five phases
Reno Spaghetti Bowl Phases
Phase 1
Spaghetti Bowl Xpress improved the I-580 South Leg in the southbound direction from the Spaghetti Bowl to Villanova Drive and westbound I-80 from Wells Avenue to southbound I-580 (Construction Completed in 2022)
Phase 2
I-80 East Leg from the Spaghetti Bowl interchange to East McCarran Boulevard in Sparks
Phase 3
U.S. 395 North Leg from the Spaghetti Bowl to Parr/Dandini Boulevards
Phase 4
Finish the I-580 South Leg not built in Phase 1, from the Spaghetti Bowl to Meadowood Mall Way
Phase 5
I-80 West Leg from the Spaghetti Bowl to Keystone Avenue, including remaining Spaghetti Bowl ramps
